I believe in the power of story.
I believe that words create worlds and that wandering in these worlds shows us how to survive in our own.
I’ve worked with a variety of writers over the years, from those just beginning to establish a writing practice to those with many books or plays under their belt. My specialty is helping you find the VOICE of your story. It’s the voice that pulls the reader in and keeps them with you for the whole wild ride.
Let’s build some worlds together.
This is BIG PICTURE editing. It includes a close read and thorough analysis of your entire manuscript to seek out what works and what might still need some work.
Line Edits and Copyediting
For me Line editing and Copyediting happen in sync with each other. My main goal is to preserve the writer’s voice and tone, while removing errors and offering suggestions that help with flow and ease of reading.
Coaching / Mentoring
How do we do this? How do we live as a writer in this world? How do we keep ourselves sane and strong enough to tell the stories we need to tell?
“There is a vitality, a life force, an energy, a quickening that is translated through you into action, and because there is only one of you in all of time, this expression is unique. And if you block it, it will never exist through any other medium and it will be lost. The world will not have it. It is not your business to determine how good it is nor how valuable nor how it compares with other expressions. It is your business to keep it yours clearly and directly, to keep the channel open. You do not even have to believe in yourself or your work. You have to keep yourself open and aware to the urges that motivate you. Keep the channel open.”
— Martha Graham
“Encourage. Such an interesting word. It’s root is coeur, from the French for ‘heart’.
Pam, you literally ‘give heart to‘ someone. You fill them with courage, not just in affirming their sense of their latent talent, but by recommending and backstopping their efforts to reach a wider audience.”
