Process Journal Template

Hi – thanks for stopping by.

When I am working on a novel (or any writing project), I keep a PROCESS JOURNAL that is focused on the writing and how it’s going. I began to do this when I was working with Jennifer Louden in her Get Your Scary Shit Done course.

I keep it pretty simple with a fill in the blank template that I save either in Scrivener as part of the project or as a Word template I keep in the file with the project.

I suggest you copy out the useful bits, add things that might help you, and save it as a Word Template for yourself.

Happy Scribbling ~p

Notes of the day

Project:

Date:

Coming IN I feel:  (physically and emotionally)

Ongoing notes: (things I discover or need to remember)

Did:

Felt:

Learned: (about myself as a writer, or a character, or a plot point)

Going OUT I feel:

Length of work session:

Next Steps/when: (breadcrumbs/questions to begin with and a TIME I will do it. Time might be … when I pour my second cup of coffee, or 10:00AM)

Celebration: (this is the HARDEST for me to remember to do and it is so important. It can be as simple as GOING OUTSIDE for a short break before just moving on to the next task)
